Cherry Glazer stars in this video because if they didn’t it would look like Weezer was playing the birthday party of their own children. Makes you wonder about their relevancy and why they haven’t broken off into a million side-projects yet. I bitch about Weezer not sounding like Weezer more than anybody (trust me, get me drunk) but even I accept the fact that middle-aged men shouldn’t be making music for young people. At least in this new single it sounds a little like they’re making music for when they were young. The upcoming album gives that away: Van Weezer. Really, I’m surprised they haven’t used this title before now, given their logo. The track is power-pop, it’s catchy, there’s some sweet shredding, but it’s nothing special. Still, it’s probably the best song they have released since “LA Girlz” or “Do You Wanna Get High” off their White Album. Watch the weird ET inspired video below.
