Ryan Shello, bass player in Philly rock band, This Kills Me, and lead guitarist for punk band, Fuzzy Slippers, breaks from the conventions of rock with his new single "Pioneers." The track is an instrumental that contains ambient elements yet contains more movement and structure than typical ambient music. Clocking in at 03:45, "Pioneers" functions as a mini-composition that expands and grows before finally drifting off into silence. The description on BandCamp states that the track is, "A lonely song equally inspired by Mogwai and the online fiction piece 17776." The piece has a very sci-fi atmosphere to it and reminds me a bit of some of the music from the video game, Neir: Automata, which is famed for its incredible soundtrack.
