This track is fantastic. It’s all screech and noise and weirdness. There’s a lot of influence from DNA in the arrangement and sound but also in the way Gordon oddly elongates her words—letting what little melody her lyrics possess meander off into nothingness. What’s most impressive about the first three-fourths of the track is that it actually sounds old. It sounds like it was recorded 30 or 40 years ago but then, in the last fourth or so, all of the instrumentation suddenly becomes very produced and more modern sounding. It’s an interesting transition and I suppose we could speculate at its meaning (if there is one at all) but we don’t do that here. The new album, No Home Record, is out next month.
