“GROUNDS” shows IDLES growing in terms of their sonic palette. Synth like staccato guitar beeps over the biggest sounding drums I’ve ever heard. The beat is like a giant stomping around and with Joe Talbot’s booming voice it’s hard not to imagine that giant isn’t him; pissed off as ever. In an interview with AF Gang, Uncle Brian (I guess that’s what he goes by) talks to guitarist Lee Banks about his guitar pedal obsession and with “GROUNDS” we really hear the depth of his collection. Unlike with previous single, “MR. MOTIVATOR,” “GROUNDS” truly highlights IDLES growth as artists and musicians. I can’t wait for the full LP to drop in September. Listen to GROUNDS below:
