Listen, if you're the type of drummer that can play Mitch Mitchell’s drum beat from “Fire,” that’s pretty darn cool. But if you’re going to blatantly put it in your sugar-high, feel-good, hand-clapping-chorus pop song--you’re just going to piss a bunch of people off. Despite this odd choice, “Father of All…” is probably the best song Green Day has put out in years (possibly decades if we're being honest)—and part of that is because it barely sounds like them at all. It almost sounds like some weird-Bizarro version of 2007 Portugal, The Man. And for those who weren’t there, 2007 PtM was actually cool. Listen to the track below.
